WADA launches first drafting phase of 2027 World Anti-Doping Code and International Standards Update Process
Stakeholder feedback received during first phase now available
Today, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) launches the ‘First Drafting Phase’ of the 2027 World Anti-Doping Code & International Standards Update Process (2027 Code & IS Update Process). As part of this phase, we are publishing stakeholder feedback regarding the Concept Papers that were published during the ‘Stakeholder Engagement Phase’ initiated in September 2023. This feedback will underpin the upcoming work of the drafting teams.
2027 Code & IS Update Process
The 2027 Code & IS Update Process is part of WADA’s commitment to facilitate periodic collaborative review processes to ensure the documents remain fit for purpose. The two-year, multi-phase update process is summarized in the 2027 Code & IS Update Process – Timelines & Key Phases document and corresponding webinar presentation.
2027 Code & IS Update Drafting Team Working Groups
Nine different drafting teams—one for the Code and each International Standard—have been formally constituted as Working Groups and are composed of internal members from WADA management and external experts from various Code Signatories and stakeholder organizations. For more information regarding the 2027 Code & IS Update Process or the Drafting Team Working Groups, we invite you to refer to the Code Review webpage.
Stakeholder Feedback on Concept Papers
During the initial Stakeholder Engagement Phase, stakeholders were invited to provide feedback on certain key concepts which had been organized into different Concept Papers. We received more than 1,500 comments1 from stakeholders, all of which can be found here:

International Standard for the Protection of Privacy and Personal Information

As previously indicated, while the drafting teams carefully consider and review all comments, it cannot be guaranteed that they will address each individual stakeholder comment or that a given suggestion will be included in amended and updated versions of the Code and Standards.
