Summary: This project, which constitutes a follow-up from a previous work funded by WADA, aims at widening our understanding of the effects of β2-agonists on muscle function, cognitive function and exercise performance. Three main issues will be addressed:
- Results of two bronchial provocation tests widely used for asthma detection in athletes (mannitol and eucapnic voluntary hyperpnea) will be confronted;
- Ergogenic and stimulant effects associated with the administration of β2- agonists will be specified;
- The precise signalling pathways involved in physiological adaptations induced by β2-agonists will be clarified.
