WADA publishes four new Technical Documents

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) announces the publication of the following Technical Documents – all of which were approved by WADA’s Executive Committee at its meeting on 15 May 2019 in Montreal, Canada.
TD2019DL version 2 - Decision Limits for the Confirmatory Quantification of Threshold Substances along with the Summary of Modifications.
The new TD2019DL version 2 replaces the former TD2019DL version 1, and was modified to include important clarifications regarding the permitted use of densitometers for the determination of urinary Specific Gravity (SG) during the Initial Testing Procedure(s), as well as to provide specific instructions on how to conduct and report SG measurements during the “A” and “B” Confirmation Procedures (see footnote 1 in the Technical Document).
In addition, footnote a. under Table 1 clarifies that the Decision Limits (DL) have been rounded up to the second significant figure. When reporting quantification results for Threshold Substances, laboratories must report the mean value from triplicate determinations, rounded down (truncated) to the same number of decimal places as the applicable DL.
All WADA-accredited Laboratories are required to implement the TD2019DL version 2 in their procedures by 1 September 2019.
TD2019MRPL- Minimum Required Performance Levels for Detection and Identification of Non-Threshold Substances along with the Summary of Modifications.
The new TD2019MRPL replaces the former TD2018MRPL, and was harmonized with the new TD2019DL in regard to adjustments of concentrations for high (> 1.018) urinary SG to determine the need for GC/C/IRMS confirmation of formestane and boldenone/ boldenone metabolite(s) findings.
All WADA-accredited Laboratories are required to implement the TD2019MRPL with immediate effect.
TD2019GH – Human Growth Hormone (hGH) Isoform Differential Immunoassays for Doping Control Analyses along with the Summary of Modifications.
The new TD2019GH replaces the former TD2015GH, and was modified to account for new analytical evidence showing that BD Vacutainer® SSTTM tubes, US ref 367986 are fit-for-purpose. Therefore, these tubes can be used for blood sample collection for hGH analysis.
All WADA-accredited Laboratories are required to implement the TD2019GH with immediate effect.
TD2019BAR - Technical Document on Blood Analytical Requirements for the Athlete Biological Passport along with the Summary of Modifications.
The new TD2019BAR replaces the former TD2018BAR, and was modified to be applicable to the new series of blood analyzers that will be implemented in all Laboratories on 1 June 2019.
All WADA-accredited Laboratories and WADA-approved Laboratories for the Athlete Biological Passport are required to implement the TD2019BAR in their procedures by 1 June 2019.
