WADA pays tribute to Bengt Saltin
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) was saddened to learn of the passing of Swedish anti-doping expert Bengt Saltin at the age of 79.
Mr. Saltin, a professor of human physiology and a leading figure in the anti-doping movement, was well known for his role as head of the anti-doping program at the International Ski Federation, where he was involved with mapping the blood values of cross-country skiers. He was also a researcher in high altitude training, and worked as an adviser to the Swedish Olympic Committee.
“WADA would like to recognize the achievements of Bengt Saltin during his long, distinguished career in anti-doping,” said WADA President, Sir Craig Reedie.
“His work over the years contributed greatly to the anti-doping framework we have in place today, and for that WADA is most thankful. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family at this time.”
