Anti-doping Communications Day for Flemish federations

Flemish sports federations were invited to a communications day earlier this month hosted by NADO Flanders and designed to keep them informed of the latest developments in anti-doping within Belgium.

The event in Leuven, which was titled Efficient Fight against Doping in Flanders: A Shared Responsibility, discussed the new co-operation agreement that exists between the various communities in Belgium.

Also discussed was the Anti-Doping Flemish Parliament Act which NADO Flanders hopes will soon be passed.

Attending the communications day on behalf of WADA was Legal Counsel Olivier Niggli (pictured left), whose presentation focused on the roles and responsibilities of national federations as outlined in the World Anti-Doping Code.

Attendees were also encouraged to harmonize their working methods and the sanctioning process for Belgium’s elite athletes.

To this end, NADO Flanders highlighted the importance of the Flemish Anti-Doping Tribunal as a joint disciplinary body for the different organizations in Belgium.

NADO Flanders is the anti-doping organization for the Flemish community in Belgium and part of the Department of Culture, Youth, Sport and Media.
