WADA participates in second IPC Athletes’ Forum

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) was pleased to participate in the second edition of the International Paralympic Committee’s (IPC’s) Athletes’ Forum held from 22-24 November 2019 in Colorado Springs, USA. 

Under the theme “IPC Athletes’ Council Strategy”, the second edition of the Forum was hosted by the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) and was a forum for open dialogue, consultation and information sharing. 

Key members of WADA’s staff were on-hand to participate in the event, including WADA Deputy Director, Standards and Harmonization, Stuart Kemp, who joined a panel session entitled Anti-Doping in the Paralympic Movement, where he discussed topical questions from the moderator and forum participants. WADA’s Senior Manager, Athlete Relations, Stacy Spletzer-Jegen, was also on-hand in a WADA Outreach booth where she interacted with athletes, answered their specific questions and encouraged them to become further informed and engaged with Clean Sport.  

Speaking of her experience at the Forum, Spletzer-Jegen said: “Athlete engagement is a priority for WADA and attending this Forum provided a great platform for direct interaction with the Paralympic community. We appreciate the invitation to take part and look forward to doing so again in the future”. 

Approximately 75 athletes attended the bi-annual Forum.
