WADA media invitation to Foundation Board meeting in Montreal

Dear members of the media, 

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is pleased to invite members of the media to attend its hybrid Foundation Board (Board) meeting in Montreal, Canada, as outlined below. 

Date: Friday, 17 November 2023

Location: Palais des Congrès (Room 520), 1001 Place Jean-Paul-Riopelle, Montreal, QC H2Z 1H5 

As usual and in line with WADA Governance Regulations, Board meetings are public forums and members of the media are welcome to attend and observe the meeting. During the meeting, the WADA Board members will discuss, take decisions, and be informed on a number of matters that include: 

  • An update on the non-compliance status of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency;  
  • Updates on the activities of the Athletes’ Anti-Doping Ombuds and the Human Rights Impact Assessment project;  
  • An update on the World Anti-Doping Program consultation process; 
  • Updates on progress against the Agency’s key performance indicators and on the development of the next iteration of WADA’s Strategic Plan (2025-2029); 
  • A decision on WADA’s 2024 draft budget;  
  • Confirmation of the composition of the Board, Executive Committee (ExCo), Permanent Special Committees and Standing Committees for 2024;  
  • An update provided by WADA’s Director General at the commencement of the meeting on the decisions taken by the ExCo, which meets the day before; and  
  • Updates on WADA’s main areas of activity, including the 2023 outputs of its expert committees. 

The outcomes of the Board meeting will be announced in a release to be published once the meeting has concluded. After the Board meeting, a media conference will take place in the same location, attended by the WADA President, Witold Bańka, and Director General, Olivier Niggli.  

For those unable to attend the Board meeting and/or media conference in person, they will be livestreamed via a secure platform, requiring pre-registration to obtain the necessary links. 

Working members of the media who wish to attend the Board meeting and/or media conference, whether in person or virtually, are kindly asked to register their request by sending the following information to media@wada-ama.org, no later than Friday, 10 November 2023:

Please note that WADA will have an official photographer on site and will make photos available following the meeting. There will be a vision opportunity immediately before the start. However, taking photos or video while the meeting is in progress is not permitted.
