WADA launches stakeholder consultation process for four Technical Documents related to the Athlete Biological Passport
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) invites stakeholders to participate in a consultation process to revise the following four Technical Documents (TDs) related to the Athlete Biological Passport (ABP), which are linked to the update process of the International Standard for Laboratories, the International Standard for Testing, and International Standard for Results Management.
TD2027APMU – Athlete Passport Management Unit (APMU) Requirements and Procedures
The purpose of the TD APMU is to harmonize the effective management of Passports by providing specific requirements that an APMU must meet in order to be a WADA-approved APMU. The revisions of the TD APMU, which were guided by WADA’s APMU Working Group, will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Passport management process.
TD2027ENDO – Analytical and Reporting Requirements for the Blood Markers of the Endocrine Module of the ABP
The purpose of the TD ENDO is to harmonize the analysis and reporting of the blood (serum) Markers of human Growth Hormone (hGH) as part of the Endocrine Module of the ABP, the goal of which is to uncover the use of Prohibited Substances associated with hGH biological activity, namely:
- recombinant hGH preparations,
- hGH secretagogues,
- hGH analogs and releasing factors, and
- Insulin-like Growth Factor-I (IGF-I).
The TD2027ENDO, revised under the guidance of WADA’s Endocrine Working Group, replaces the current Laboratory Guidelines for the Analytical Requirements for the Endocrine Module.
TD2027BSM – Analytical and Reporting Requirements for the Blood Markers of the Steroid Module of the ABP
The purpose of the TD BSM is to harmonize the analysis and reporting of the blood (serum) Markers of the Steroidal Module of the ABP, the goal of which is to uncover the use of synthetic forms of Endogenous Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (EAAS), in particular testosterone and its precursors. The TD2027BSM, revised under the guidance of WADA’s EAAS Working Group and Steroidal ABP Working Group, replaces the current Laboratory Guidelines for the Quantification of Endogenous Steroids in Blood for the ABP.
TD2027USM – Analytical and Reporting Requirements for the Urinary Markers of the Steroidal Module of the ABP
The purpose of the TD USM is to harmonize the analysis and reporting of the urinary Markers of the Steroidal Module of the ABP, the goal of which is to uncover the use of synthetic forms of EAAS, in particular testosterone and its precursors. The TD2027USM replaces the TD2021EAAS and was revised under the guidance of WADA’s EAAS Working Group and Steroidal ABP Working Group.
Stakeholders are invited to review and provide comments by 23 January 2026 using WADA’s online consultation platform, WADAConnect.

About WADA’s Technical Documents
Under the International Standard for Laboratories, WADA’s TDs provide technical and procedural direction to WADA-accredited laboratories, WADA-approved laboratories for the ABP, and other stakeholders.
As part of WADA’s mandate to enhance anti-doping activities under the World Anti-Doping Code, TDs are occasionally revised to reflect scientific and technological advances in the performance of anti-doping tests and the reporting of test results. They are revised and refined in consultation with WADA stakeholders.

We thank you in advance for your feedback.
