Project description

Code: DBS20HCG01CG

Historically, human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG) has been analysed in urine samples only and this has on occasion not allowed for unequivocal determination of a anti-doping rule violation (ADRV).

There can be reasons for hCG to be present endogenously, such as, testicular cancer.

Developing and validating a quantification method for hCG in serum and dried blood spots (DBS) may allow the differentiation of administration of hCG in male athletes in comparison to being identified endogenously.
