WADA removes National Anti-Doping Organization of Uruguay from compliance watchlist

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) confirms that the National Anti-Doping Organization of Uruguay (Uruguay NADO) has successfully addressed its outstanding non-conformities with the World Anti-Doping Code (Code) and has therefore been removed from the compliance watchlist.
The Uruguay NADO was added to the compliance watchlist at the Executive Committee (ExCo) meeting of 12 September 2024, following the ExCo’s endorsement of the recommendation of WADA’s independent Compliance Review Committee (CRC). As per the International Standard for Code Compliance by Signatories (ISCCS), this gave the Uruguay NADO four additional months to execute its corrective action plans.
At the end of the watchlist period (12 January 2025), these issues were still unresolved. Therefore, as per Article 8.4.5 of the ISCCS, on 13 January 2025, WADA sent the Uruguay NADO a formal allegation of non-compliance.
Since receiving this notice, the Uruguay NADO took the required action and subsequently provided the relevant updates to WADA. Therefore, in line with Article 11.3.3 of the ISCCS, the CRC reviewed these updates, concluded that the critical corrective actions had now been corrected in full and subsequently recommended to the ExCo that the Uruguay NADO be removed from the compliance watchlist.
The ExCo endorsed the CRC recommendation, and the compliance procedure has therefore been closed.
