The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is pleased to publish resources regarding implementation of the 2027 World Anti-Doping Code (Code) in Signatories’ legal systems. Intended for National Anti-Doping Organizations, International Federations, and Major Event Organizations, the new resources are complementary to the Model Rules WADA published in December 2025, and include a video presentation featuring members of WADA’s Compliance team and a set of frequently asked questions (FAQs).

The first of many resources to be published as part of the 2027 Code Implementation Support Program (CISP), the video presentation and FAQs aim to provide Signatories with simplified guidance and answers to common questions on the process related to the updating of their rules, regulations and (where applicable) legislation, in accordance with the 2027 Code and International Standards.

The presentation, led by Emiliano Simonelli, WADA’s Associate Director, Compliance Unit of WADA’s Compliance, Rules and Standards Impact Area, includes key information, best practice and guidance on the actions that Signatories need to take.

Emiliano Simonelli shared that "Signatories have critical work to do in the coming months to ensure that their legal systems are updated in line with the 2027 Code. This enables a fair anti-doping system for all by supporting the principle of harmonization. WADA, having already provided Signatories with Model Rules, is pleased now to share these additional resources to help Signatories with the transition. We encourage all Signatories to prioritize the revision of their legal systems as the first step in the implementation of the 2027 Code."

Further preparation for Code implementation – CISP and Regional Symposiums

In order to help Signatories prepare for implementation of the 2027 Code and Standards, WADA will continue to roll out resources as part of CISP. The aim is to provide further simplified guidance to Signatories on the changes and requirements in the 2027 Code and all Standards. WADA aims to formally launch its revised CISP program in March with a set of specific resources focused on what has changed and what Signatories need to do. Thereafter, additional types of CISP resources will be made available on WADA’s Anti-Doping Education and Learning (ADEL) platform, such as:

  • Factsheets
  • Checklists
  • Presentations
  • Pre-recorded webinars
  • Video tutorials

Additionally, WADA will be hosting four Regional Symposiums in 2026 in order to address the unique needs and challenges of stakeholders in the different regions in the lead up to the implementation of the 2027 Code and Standards. The Regional Symposiums will be structured around CISP, with a strong emphasis on compliance readiness. The cities and dates of these events (in calendar order) are as follows:

  • Europe: Baku, Azerbaijan on 18-19 March (opening ceremony evening of 17 March)
  • Africa: Cairo, Egypt on 28-29 April (opening ceremony evening of 27 April)
  • Asia and Oceania: Beijing, China on 2-3 June (Intergovernmental Meeting and Opening Ceremony on 1 June)
    • Registration to open in early March
  • Americas: Lima, Peru on 1-2 July
    • Registration to open in early April

WADA has also published a 2027 Code and Standards Implementation Guide, which notably touches upon CISP and summarizes other matters of importance related to the Update Process; in particular:

  • the significant changes between the current 2021 Code and the proposed 2027 Code, and
  • the significant changes between the current Standards and the proposed 2027 Standards.
