WADA President Meets with Victor Conte

WADA President Richard W. Pound met with Victor Conte in New York on December 12, 2007, upon Mr. Conte’s initiation in order for Mr. Conte to share with WADA information to help improve the fight against doping in sport.

Mr. Pound described the meeting as both positive and informative, noting that discussions focused on the general fight against doping in sport and how the anti-doping movement might be more effective in going forward. No pending cases were discussed.

“I am glad to have taken the trip to New York today to meet Mr. Conte,” said Pound. “Those of us responsible for leading in the fight against doping look forward to the benefits of such knowledge and cooperation, very much in the same manner that we welcome information from athletes who have doped in the past and are now willing to help us have a greater understanding of the nature and extent of the doping problem and how to attack it.”
