WADA opens registration for its 2026 Regional Symposium to be held in Cairo, Egypt on 28-29 April

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is pleased to announce that online registration is now open for its 2026 Regional Symposium for Africa, which will take place on 28-29 April 2026 in Cairo, Egypt at the Renaissance Cairo Mirage City Hotel. An official opening ceremony will be held on 27 April at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization. We will be hosting the African edition of our 2026 Regional Symposiums with support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Egyptian Anti-Doping Organization. 

Regional Symposium Objectives – Informing, building confidence, and connecting 

WADA’s 2026 Regional Symposiums will aim to address the unique needs and challenges of stakeholders in the different regions in the lead up to implementation of the 2027 World Anti-Doping Code (Code) and International Standards (Standards). The events will be structured around WADA’s 2027 Code Implementation Support Program (CISP) with a strong emphasis on compliance readiness. The primary objectives will be: 

• to inform stakeholders of the changes and requirements in the 2027 Code and Standards; 
• to build stakeholders' confidence in implementing the required changes to their anti-doping programs; and 
• to facilitate connection and collaboration between stakeholders. 

Participants can expect presentations on the Code and Standards that will be focused on the technical aspects of preparing for implementation, as well as sessions focusing on regional needs and challenges.  

Target Audience 

The African Regional Symposium is geared towards anti-doping practitioners from National Anti-Doping Organizations, Regional Anti-Doping Organizations, the African Olympic and Paralympic movements, and Major Event Organizers; regional partners, anti-doping laboratory representatives, and service providers; as well as athletes and government and intergovernmental representatives.    

Kindly note that stakeholders are welcome to attend any of the four Regional Symposiums and are also welcome to attend more than one Regional Symposium if the number of registrations allows.

The Symposium website contains information regarding the event, including the preliminary program and how to register. Additional information will be added to the site in due course.

1. Europe: Baku, Azerbaijan on 18-19 March (opening ceremony the evening of 17 March) 

• Registration open now—deadline: 28 February 

2. Asia and Oceania: Beijing, China on 2-3 June (intergovernmental meeting and opening ceremony on 1 June 2026) 

• Registration to open in early March 

3. Americas: Lima, Peru on 1-2 July 

• Registration to open in early April
