WADA media invitation to Foundation Board meeting in Riyadh

Board meeting will be followed by media conference, which will also be livestreamed. 

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is pleased to invite members of the media to attend its hybrid Foundation Board (Board) meeting in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as outlined below. 

Date: Thursday, 5 December 2024 

Time: 9:00 a.m. (Arabian Standard Time) 

Location: Hilton Riyadh Hotel and Residences, Al Ula Hall A-B, UG floor   

As usual and in line with WADA Governance Regulations, Board meetings are public forums and members of the media are welcome to attend and observe the meeting. During the meeting, the WADA Board members will discuss, take decisions, and be informed on a number of matters that include:  

  • A decision on the adoption of WADA’s Strategic Plan (2025-2029) and a progress report against the Agency’s key performance indicators;    
  • A decision on WADA’s 2025 budget; 
  • A progress report on the 2027 World Anti-Doping Code and International Standards update process;    
  • Updates on WADA’s main areas of activity, including the 2024 outputs of its Athlete Council and other expert committees;    
  • An update on the no-fault contamination case involving 21 swimmers from China in 2021; and     
  • Updates on changes in composition of the governing bodies of the Agency for 2025.   

The outcomes of the Board meeting will be announced in a release to be published once the meeting has concluded. After the Board meeting, a media conference will take place in the same location, attended by the WADA President, Witold Bańka, and Director General, Olivier Niggli. 

For those unable to attend the Board meeting and/or media conference in person, they will be available to view via a secure platform, requiring pre-registration to obtain the necessary links. 

Working members of the media who wish to attend the Board meeting and/or media conference, whether in person or virtually, are kindly asked to register their request by sending the following information to media@wada-ama.org, no later than Friday, 29 November 2024:

Please note that WADA will have an official photographer on site and will make photos available following the meeting. There will be a vision opportunity immediately before the start. However, taking photos or video while the meeting is in progress is not permitted.
