WADA congratulates its Athlete Council’s Olympic and Paralympic medalists
The World Anti-Doping Agency congratulates the three members of its Athlete Council who won medals during the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games (Paris 2024).
In August, Kristen Kit led Canada’s women’s eight rowing team to a silver medal. Last week, Jitske Visser was instrumental in the Netherlands claiming gold in wheelchair basketball, while Ella Sabljak played a key role in Australia’s victory in the bronze medal match in wheelchair rugby.
WADA President Witold Bańka said: “On behalf of the World Anti-Doping Agency, I would like to congratulate Kristen, Jitske and Ella on their remarkable achievements at Paris 2024. Their determination, resilience and commitment to their craft, and to clean sport, is truly inspiring. We are honored to have had three exemplary individuals representing WADA’s Athlete Council on sport’s grandest stage.”
WADA Athlete Council Chair, Ryan Pini, said: “WADA’s entire Athlete Council is incredibly proud of Kristen, Jitske and Ella on their medal-winning performances at Paris 2024. All three played integral roles in their teams’ success, as they do with the Athlete Council and in their roles as athlete representatives within their respective countries and sports. They are a model for athletes around the world, by proving that you can succeed at the highest level while also using your platform to advocate for athletes’ rights and promote clean sport.”
More about WADA’s Athlete Council
WADA’s Athlete Council represents, supports and promotes the voices of athletes on anti-doping matters. It is the avenue for athletes, chosen by athletes, to assume important seats within WADA’s governing bodies, with the Council Chair appointed to WADA’s Executive Committee and two members sitting on WADA’s Foundation Board (with at least one coming from Paralympic sport). The Council is also in charge of appointing athlete representatives to other WADA bodies.
