WADA announces research projects funded through Scientific Research Grant Program

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is pleased to publish the lists of scientific research projects approved to receive funding through the Agency’s Scientific Research Grant Program for the second cycle of the 2024 granting year and the first cycle of the 2025 granting year.
2024 Scientific Research Grants (Cycle 2)
In December 2024, WADA’s Executive Committee (ExCo) approved funding recommendations for WADA’s 2024 Cycle 2 call for scientific research grants. In this cycle, a total of 13 research projects were selected for funding from a group of 33 full applications, amounting to USD 952,001.
2025 Scientific Research Grants (Cycle 1)
In March 2025, the ExCo approved funding recommendations for WADA’s 2025 Cycle 1 call for scientific research grants. In all, four projects were selected for funding in this cycle from a total of 8 full applications, amounting to USD 439,560. The remaining funds in the 2025 research budget will be used to support Cycles 2 and 3, as well as being allocated to already identified targeted projects in areas such as glucocorticoids, contaminants, and reference materials.
The approval of all scientific research projects followed a robust review process, which include recommendations from external peer reviewers, followed by recommendations from the Agency’s Health, Medical & Research Committee, and final approval by the ExCo. More details on the approved projects will be published on WADA’s website in the coming months once the individual contracts are signed.
Please note that WADA’s Call for Proposals for its 2025 Scientific Research Grant Program is presently ongoing.
