Statement on behalf of OneVoice, the group of representatives of Public Authorities on WADA’s Foundation Board and Executive Committee

The Public Authorities represented on the WADA Foundation Board and Executive Committee reaffirm their commitment to safeguarding the integrity of sport and protecting the health and well-being of athletes worldwide.

The health risks associated with performance-enhancing drugs are significant, including long-term physiological damage and psychological harm. Governments remain deeply concerned about the ongoing threat the abuse of prohibited and potentially harmful substances in sport poses to the well-being of individuals, particularly young and aspiring athletes.

Doping also undermines the core values of fairness, respect, and equal opportunity in sport. It erodes public trust and diminishes the achievements of clean athletes who compete with integrity and dedication.

In this context, we firmly oppose the concept of the so-called Enhanced Games, which promotes the use of performance-enhancing drugs under the guise of competition and advancing sport science. Such initiatives not only endanger athlete health but also fundamentally contradict the values of clean sport and the global consensus enshrined in the World Anti-Doping Code. Furthermore, athletes, coaches and others associated with the Enhanced Games also needlessly risk being ineligible for other events and competitions, among other potential consequences.

Governments remain strong advocates for clean and healthy sport at all levels. As States Parties to the UNESCO International Convention against Doping in Sport, we uphold the principles of the World Anti-Doping Code, which explicitly prohibits the use of performance-enhancing substances and methods.

We continue to work in close collaboration with WADA, National Anti-Doping Organizations, the Sport Movement, and other stakeholders to ensure a robust and transparent anti-doping system. Together, we aim to foster a sporting environment where athletes can compete safely, fairly, and free from the pressures and dangers of doping.
