WADA Education Committee supports advancement of Clean Sport initiatives in social science research, digital learning and capability building

On 14, 15 and 16 April 2021, the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) Education Committee (Committee), which is comprised of 12 members from around the world, met virtually to discuss expanding the reach and impact of anti-doping education that is intended to provide greater protection for athletes and Clean Sport.

Of particular note, the Committee:

• held a joint meeting on 14 April with WADA’s Social Science Research (SSR) Expert Advisory Group to discuss and agree the recommendations for grant funding for SSR projects;
• welcomed advancement in making educational programs and resources available for Athletes, Athlete Support Personnel and Anti-Doping Organizations (ADOs) via the Agency’s Anti-Doping Education and Learning Platform (ADEL); and
• expressed support for development of Athlete Support Personnel curriculums to assist ADOs in developing their education programs for Athlete Support Personnel such as coaches, medical professionals and parents.

The Committee, which is one of five Standing Committees of WADA, has a mandate to provide advice, recommendations and guidance to WADA's Management with respect to short-term education strategies and activities, and longer-term approaches to WADA's education programs. It is also involved in the selection process of WADA-funded social science research projects.
