WADA publishes Technical Documents TD2019DL, TD2019CG/LH, TD2019IRMS and TD2019NA

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) announces the publication of the following Technical Documents – all of which were approved by WADA’s Executive Committee at its meeting on 14 November 2018 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Please note that all WADA-accredited Laboratories are required to implement these Technical Documents in their procedures by 1 March 2019.

TD2019DL - Decision Limits for the Confirmatory Quantification of Threshold Substances along with the Summary of Modifications.

The new TD2019DL replaces the former TD2018DL, which has been modified to include the following main changes:

  1. the correction of decision limits (DLs) for threshold substances in samples with high (> 1.018) urinary specific gravity (SG);
  2. definition of the SG to be applied for correction as that measured in the anti-doping laboratory with a digital refractometer using a fit-for-purpose method which is included within the laboratory’s ISO/IEC-17025 scope of accreditation;
  3. the establishment of the value of the maximum allowed expanded uncertainty for SG measurements, which is incorporated in the DL correction formula;
  4. the number of significant figures applicable to the DLs defined for carboxy-THC, formoterol and pseudoephedrine has been clarified.

TD2019CG/LH - Reporting and Management of Urinary human Chorionic Gonadotrophin (hCG) and Luteinizing Hormone (LH) Findings in Male Athletes along with the Summary of Modifications.

The new TD2019CG/LH replaces the former TD2018CG/LH, which has been modified to account for the changes made in the new TD2019DL in regards to the formulas for adjustment of the DL for hCG or the concentration of LH in samples with high (> 1.018) urinary SG.

TD2019IRMS – Detection of Synthetic Forms of Endogenous Anabolic Androgenic Steroids by GC/C/IRMS along with the Summary of Modifications.

The new TD2019IRMS replaces the former TD2016IRMS, which has been modified to account for the changes made in the new TD2019DL and updates the formula for adjustment of steroid concentrations in samples with high (> 1.018) urinary SG.

TD2019NA - Harmonization of Analysis and Reporting of 19-Norsteroids Related to Nandrolone along with the Summary of Modifications.

The new TD2019NA replaces the former TD2017NA, which has been modified to account for the changes made in the new TD2019DL and updates the formula for adjustment of 19-NA concentrations in samples with high (> 1.018) urinary SG.
