WADA appoints acting COO and General Counsel

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has appointed Olivier Niggli as its acting Chief Operating Officer (COO) and General Counsel.

Olivier Niggli is currently a partner with the law firm Carrard & Associés in Lausanne, Switzerland, where he is active in sport, arbitration and commercial law. He possesses extensive experience in the fight against doping, including his time as the WADA Legal Director and Chief Financial Officer from 2001-2011.

Niggli holds a Master of Laws (LLM) from the London School of Economics (LSE) and an MBA from McGill University, and is fluent in both English and French. With his background and experience, he will bring expertise to WADA in the legal, financial and governance areas, and will play a strong supportive role for WADA Director General David Howman  in the challenges ahead. He assumes the position as WADA  approaches a new era following the adoption of the 2015 World Anti- Doping Code and the election of Sir Craig Reedie as President.

Olivier Niggli will take up his post in Montreal, in June 2014.
