Spanish anti-doping organization AEA visits WADA Montreal office

WADA welcomed representatives from Agencia Estatal Antidopaje (AEA) – the Spanish National Anti-Doping Organization – to its offices in Montreal to discuss Spain’s anti-doping programs and to explore ways in which the two organizations can support each other.

Newly-appointed AEA Director General Ana Munoz (2nd from left) was joined by her colleagues Victoria Ley (second from right), Head of Research Health and Anti-Doping Department, and Guy Vancanneyt (far right), Director Control Planning, as they met WADA Director General David Howman (centre) and WADA Director of Standards and Harmonization Rune Andersen (3rd from left).

“It was important for WADA to welcome the new Director General of the AEA, Ms. Munoz, to Montreal” said Mr. Howman after the meeting. “We were very encouraged by our discussions and the spirit of cooperation.

“Spain has made progress recently in terms of its anti-doping legislation and anti-doping programs, and WADA will support AEA in any way it can to make sure this progress is maintained.”

Ms. Munoz and her colleagues also took the opportunity to meet other members of the WADA staff and to get feedback on recommendations made during the ongoing review of the World Anti-Doping Code.
