Code working document to be presented to WADA Executive Committee and Foundation Board

The World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) Executive Committee and Foundation Board will meet respectively on November 17 and 18, 2012 in Montreal and will discuss the second draft of the 2015 World Anti-Doping Code.

The Foundation Board is open to members of the media, and there will be an opportunity to discuss anti-doping issues with WADA President John Fahey and Director General David Howman at the conclusion of the meeting.

Topics of interest for the media include:

World Anti-Doping Code Review

Government representatives and the Olympic Movement will be presented with a working document of the second draft of the 2015 World Anti Doping Code as set out in the ongoing Code Review Process.

The second consultation phase of the two-year Code Review Process concluded on October 10 and since then the Code drafting team has reviewed all the submissions and prepared a working document for the new draft of the Code.

A further 107 submissions were received during the second consultation phase, of which 33 were from sports authorities, 33 from National Anti-Doping Organizations, 11 from public authorities, and 30 from other interested parties.

In all, 1350 comments on the Code were submitted and subsequently reviewed by the Code Drafting Team.

Executive Committee and Foundation Board members will have the opportunity to discuss the submissions and the new draft ahead of the commencement of the third consultation phase on December 1.

WADA’s International Standards (IS) are being reviewed in conjunction with the Code and a total of 323 comments were submitted and reviewed by the IS drafting team.

ADAMS and ABP

Both meetings will receive updates on the Anti-Doping Administration and Management System (ADAMS) and the Athlete Biological Passport (ABP).

There will be an explanation as to the capacity of the new 3.2 version of ADAMS, how it now incorporates ABP data, and how the ABP was officially used by a number of International Federations for the first time at an Olympic Games in London 2012.

As per WADA’s statutes, the meeting is open to the media. Seats will be reserved inside the room for journalists who wish to attend.

No audio or video taping of the meeting is permitted. Photographers and cameramen will be allowed in the meeting room for a five-minute camera spray prior to the start of the meeting.

WADA President John Fahey and Director General David Howman will discuss the topics addressed at the Executive Committee and Foundation Board meetings and will respond to questions in a conference call.
