The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) will be present at the Paralympic Games starting March 10 in Turin, Italy. An Independent Observer (IO) team and an Athlete Outreach group will be on hand for the duration of the Games.
The IO team, chaired by Pirjo Krouvila, Director of International and Developmental Affairs at the Finnish Anti-Doping Agency, will observe doping control procedures and result management. Other members of the team include Joseph De Pencier, Director of Sports Services and General Counsel at the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport; Halim Jebali, Doctor at the Tunisian National Centre of Sport Medicine; Keun-Youl Kim, Secretary of the Olympic Council of Asia Medical Committee; and Jennifer Ebermann, Education Manager at WADA.
The Athlete Outreach team will interact with athletes at the Olympic Village in Sestriere. The team is composed of Wanda Schapendonk, Education Officer at the Netherlands Center of Doping Affairs; Kevin Haynes, Logistics and Standards Manager at UK Sport; and Jennifer Sclater, Education Coordinator at WADA.
