WADA's President Urges Governments to Ratify Convention

During a press conference on October 25 at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, WADA's President Richard W. Pound congratulated UNESCO and governments for the unanimous adoption of the International Convention against Doping in Sport on October 19. He also urged governments to ratify the treaty before the Winter Olympic Games in February 2006.

"Governments have reached an important milestone," Pound said. "But it is also a crossroads. The Convention does not mean anything unless it is ratified by 30 countries. It will be regarded as a huge failure among governments if they do not make it in time."
