Major Event Organization

Major Event Organizations (MEOs) are organizations that function as the ruling body for any continental, regional or international event. They are responsible for adopting and implementing anti-doping policies and rules for their events which comply with the World Anti-Doping Code.

After January 1, 2010, under the Code, MEOs must do everything possible to award World Championships and major sporting events only to countries where the government has ratified the UNESCO Convention, and where the National Olympic Committee, the National Paralympic Committee and the National Anti-Doping Organization are in compliance with the Code.
