The World Anti-Doping Agency is pleased to announce the 3rd Symposium on the topic of TUEs (Therapeutic Use Exemptions). This two-day programme, specifically tailored for physicians, will be held in Paris on 23-24 October 2014.
Following successful symposia in Bonn (2005) and Strasbourg (2009), this symposium will provide an exceptional opportunity for representatives from National Anti-Doping Organizations (NADOs), International Federations (IFs) and some international sports organizations to address a number of important topics, with the primary objective being to ensure a harmonized approach to the TUE process.
The Symposium is aimed primarily at the Chairs of TUE Committees, and will address key topics including:
- Important changes to the Code and the International Standard for Therapeutic Use Exemptions (ISTUE);
- Medical conditions that require the use of androgens, stimulants, glucocorticosteroids or beta-blockers;
- TUE Principles and Practices;
- An Athlete’s perspective: Tyler Hamilton;
- Challenges and lessons from ADOs;
- Supplement Use in Sport;
- Challenging TUE cases and the appeal process.
The TUE Symposium will offer a combination of podium presentations and small group discussions conducted in the auditorium of our gracious host, the Comité National Olympique et Sportif Français (CNOSF).
