The Convention was unanimously adopted by delegates at the 33rd UNESCO General Conference in Paris on  October 19, 2005, and is open for ratification, acceptance, approval, or accession by governments.

Previous Update Reports are available under Archives. The first Report was presented by WADA to the IOC Session on February 8, 2006, in Turin immediately prior to the Olympic Games. Subsequent  Reports have been presented to WADA's Executive Committee and Foundation Board, on May 13–14, 2006,  May 12–13, 2007,  November 16–17, 2007,  May 10–11, 2008, November 22-23, 2008, and  May 9–10, 2009.
